This bottle opener is hand forged from a piece of 1/2" x 6" square stock of solid wrought iron. All tooling to create this opener was made by me, by hand. The opener has been etched to reveal the grain appearance in the wrought iron. Wrought iron is very pleasurable to forge, however the grain of wrought iron can make slitting and drifting a hole for the opener very challenging due to the grains separation. Not all pieces of wrought iron will make a bottle opener and not all pieces of wrought iron will show as much grain as this piece does. The arc forged into the handle gives a simple curve for ease of picking up the opener off of flat surfaces and for holding the opener in your hand. The rough appearance of the handle is highly polished giving it a smooth feel to the touch. After forging the opener has been cleaned, sanded many times, etched, oiled, buffed, polished and waxed. Highly polished metal can be difficult to photograph. Care Instructions: If the opener should become wet wipe dry with a towel, store in a dry environment and apply a thin coat of wax very 2-3 weeks under heavy use.
